PORTLINE BULK INTERNATIONAL, S.A. (PBI) provides full Technical and Commercial Management for Dry Bulk Ocean going vessels engaged in global trading patterns, with the majority owned by clients of the Portline Group as well as 3rd Party vessels.  The vessels under management are maintained and crewed to the highest quality standards while adhering to the strictest safety requirements to ensure the vessels comply with the ever changing environmental and regulatory landscape.
After a privatization in the 1990s, today the Portline Group is involved in ship-owning, ship-management and cargo operations with experience in various ship types including dry bulk, containers, LNG; with offices located in Hong Kong and Lisbon.
 
Job Overview
Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Technical Superintendent will oversee technical and operational issues pertaining to the assigned ships in full observance with the PMS, in compliance with the flag state administrations, classification societies, international maritime rules and Company’s policy in order to ensure the technical readiness of the managed vessels. By representing one of the main links between the Company and the Vessel, the Technical Superintendent must, at all times, provide a prompt and efficient support to the vessels on all operational and technical matters, which will be reinforced by conducting regular maintenance inspections onboard and respective follow-ups, including briefings/debriefings to crewmembers as well as assessing their performance.
 
Other specific Tasks
  • Prepare and manage the approved technical budget for the assigned vessels;
  • Participate in SMS reviews and establishment of new procedures;
  • Follow-up the necessary corrective actions for non-conformities, accidents and incidents, giving the necessary technical support to the ships;
  • Coordinate with the procurement team to supply the vessel with spares/supplies, lubes and other services in a cost efficient manner
  • Organize, renew and file copies of certificates, drawings and technical manuals of the assigned ships;
  • Prepare the technical specification for docking of assigned ships, locally supervise the respective works at the selected shipyard and verify/negotiate the respective work-done lists and final invoice;
  • Assist in the S&P/NB projects on technical related matters
 
Profile Requirements/Skills:
  • Degree in Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. Alternatively, seagoing experience as engine/deck officer,
  • Experience working in maritime area (ship owner, ship manager, shipyard or class society) is preferential.
  • Proficient user of English language, written and spoken;
  • Good computer skills: Outlook, Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint), Acrobat. Experience working with Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS) is preferential;
  • Good organization and planning skills;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Team-oriented mindset;
  • Extraordinary capacity and drive for a swift acknowledgment and unceasing enhancement of vessels management routines and responsibilities.
  • Full availability to travel overseas

JOB POST: Assistant DPA

Job Overview
Reporting to the DPA, to the CSO and to the CCM, the Assistant DPA must maintain, monitor and improve the Company’s Safety Management System (SMS) as per the requirements of the ISM Code and the Company’s Environmental Management System (EMS); conducting audits onboard, suggesting corrective actions and following-up in the required implementation, actively contributing to the safety culture within the Company.
 
Other specific Tasks
  • Together with the technical superintendents, analyze the accidents, incidents and non-conformities onboard the managed fleet.
  • Follow-up inspection reports (Port State Control, Flag, External Audits, Rightship, etc) and propose corrective actions for the deficiencies identified.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports (such as EU-MRV, IMO-DCS, US EPA);
  • Follow-up applicable rules and regulations, informing the company and the managed vessels of relevant updates.
  • Establish direct contact with the vessels of the managed fleet for monitoring and follow-up of operations to ensure compliance with procedures related with safe navigation and security
  • Coordinate, develop and perform training sessions on SMS and EMS for crewmembers and shore staff.
  • Follow-up on security related matters, including coordination and arrangement with security/armed guard companies when transiting high risk areas.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, maintenance and supervision of Ship Security Plan
 
Requirements:
 
  • Sea going experience as deck/engine officer/engineer, minimum rank of 2nd officer/engineer, preferably bulk carriers.
  • Proficient user of English language, written and spoken.
  • Good computer skills: Outlook, Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint), Acrobat.
  • Good organization and planning skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
